Professional Expertise

Malcolm moved to Henley where he is Director of the School of Leadership, Change and HR and Director of Research from a role as Principal Partner in Towers Perrin's London Human Resource Management practice. In this role he was responsible for Organisation and Management Development, Assessment, Leadership Development and Training projects for clients and for developing programmes and strategies for human resource and change management. In addition he was responsible for the firm's European leadership development practice.
Prior to joining Towers Perrin, Malcolm had eight years consulting experience with the Hay Group and Arthur Young. His consulting work covered a diverse range of human resource management assignments, including management and organisation development, management role analysis and assessment, personnel strategy and planning, leadership and team development and sales force development. This experience was gained in assignments in a wide range of industrial and commercial sectors.

Research

In 1987 he undertook a research programme into the human resource implications of the major changes in the UK financial markets and in 1988 published a book based on this research "Management Development Strategy in the Financial Sector". He has also published a range of papers on leadership and team development and executive assessment.

In addition to client work, Malcolm has carried out extensive research into the use and application of assessment centres for management development purposes and in 1990 he gained his M. Phil at City University based upon a research programme into assessment centres and methods. In 1997 he completed his Doctorate at Henley Business School based on research into factors impacting on senior managerial team performance.

Malcolm is a member of the British Psychological Society and a Chartered Psychologist.

Professional Expertise

Moira Clark is Professor of Strategic Marketing and Director of The Henley Centre for Customer Management. Moira took up her position at Henley in September 2005, joining Henley from Cranfield School of Management. She serves as a consultant to a number of leading UK and international companies. Her major area of research and consulting is in Strategic Marketing, Customer Relationship Management, Service Excellence, Customer Retention and Internal Marketing in the Service sector. She has worked extensively in the area of culture and climate, its impact on retention and loyalty and the critical linkages between employee behaviour and customer retention. She has published widely on this subject and is co-author of Relationship Marketing for Competitive Advantage, Winning and Keeping Customers and Relationship Marketing: Strategy and Implementation. Moira gained her Doctorate from Cranfield School of Management based on research into employees’ perceptions of organisational climate and customer retention rates in a major UK retail bank.

Moira is also a judge for the prestigious Management Today/Unisys Customer Service Excellence Awards. Her new book 'Business Success through Service Excellence' examines the crucial factors needed to achieve and maintain service excellence. She is a frequent keynote speaker at many public and in- company seminars and conferences around the world. Prior to joining academia, Moira was an international marketing consultant based in Munich where she was involved with a wide range of industries including service industries, consumer and industrial goods manufacturers. She has also worked as a marketing director for an international health food manufacturer and as a marketing manager for the toiletries subsidiary of Dunhill International

Professional Expertise

Chris had substantial experience in trade unions, Government, specialist journals, personnel management in construction and air transport, and consultancy, before becoming an academic almost twenty years ago. He has conducted extensive research in the field of international and comparative HRM; and published some twenty books and over a hundred articles. He has worked closely with many organisations in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. In 2002 Chris Brewster was awarded the Georges Petitpas Memorial Award by the practitioner body, the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to international human resource management.

Research

Chris has conducted numerous research projects in international and comparative HRM, funded by, amongst others, the European Commission, the Economic and Social Research Council, the Chartered Institute of Training and Development (and their European and World equivalents) and consortiums of employers. He founded and is a special advisor to the international and ongoing Cranet network, researching now in over 40 countries. Currently he is undertaking work on convergence of HR practices across countries, on expatriation and, for the HR Centre of Excellence managing projects on employee engagement and HR Talent.

Professional Expertise

Victor worked as an occupational psychologist for Rank Xerox and the Civil Service Selection Board, and was for nine years Manager of Assessment and Occupational Psychology for the STC Group (now Nortel). He was responsible for all psychological testing, management assessment and appraisal processes throughout the company.

Since 1986 he has advised numerous blue-chip companies on management assessment and development, specifically on competences, psychological testing, emotional intelligence and assessment centres. In the public sector, he has, inter alia, advised HM Treasury on Assessment Centres and was a member of the Chief Scientist’s committee on the restructuring of Human Factors units in the Ministry of Defence.

Research

Victor conducts research into Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, Personality, Team Roles, Team Process and Management Assessment & Development. He led a major government funded project investigating Competences for Boards of Directors and is currently carrying out research on Director & Board Effectiveness and Company Performance.

He has written over 100 articles and presented at numerous national and international conferences on these subjects. He is co-author of the best selling CIPD book Psychological Testing (4th edition, 2004), section editor of the handbook Assessment and Selection in Organisations (Wiley, 1989), co-author of the book Good Practice for Directors: Standards for the Board (IoD, 1995) and co-author of Making Sense of Emotional Intelligence (NFER-Nelson, 2002).

Victor is a chartered occupational psychologist, a Fellow of both the British Psychological Society and the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, and a member of the Institute of Directors.
